The existing Flow app was functional but cold. Users reported anxiety when opening it — the opposite of what a money management tool should evoke. Our redesign process started with user interviews across three demographic groups to understand not what people did with the app, but how it made them feel.
The new interface introduces a softer visual language — rounded components, a warm neutral palette, and micro-animations that acknowledge user actions without demanding attention. The information architecture was simplified from 14 top-level screens to 5, with contextual drill-downs replacing the maze of nested menus. Onboarding completion rates improved by 40% in the first month post-launch.
